Waterside Arts presents

EMERGENCy

Waterside Plaza, Sale, M33 7ZF

As hate crime continues to rise, discourse around trans rights heightens and threats to our equal rights loom across the world, we want to document the issues most important to our young people around sexuality, gender expression and identity.

Working with community artists we’ll be inspired by the voices of LGBTQ+ young people and their allies through a series of conversations and workshops, culminating in an outdoor installation running through-out Pride in Trafford.

A call to action; “deeds not words”.

We would like to include as many young voices as possible in the installation, either in person or remotely. This can be done anonymously.

The project is aiming to capture the voices of LGBTQ+ young people and their allies aged 13 - 25 years, however we welcome participation from any age under 25.

GET INVOLVED IN PERSON

On Tue 16 May, illustrator Myro Doodles will create the EMERGENCy installation on site at Waterside.

Throughout the day we will be facilitating a series of sessions for young people to discuss the issues that are most important to them.

By listening to these sessions, Myro will translate the conversation into visuals - creating murals for our three outdoor totems; giving a collective voice to the individuals who have taken part.

Please email us: emergency@prideintrafford.org if you would like to be involved in person on Tue 16 May.

GET INVOLVED REMOTELY

If there you are unable to join us in person on 16 May, there are other ways to have your voices heard:

  • Plan a session at your own organisation to discuss the issues LGBTQ+ people young people are experiencing.

  • Individuals can also record their own statements.

  • Simply answer the question - if you were attending a protest in person, what would the statement of your placard banner be?

Email us any recordings to emergency@prideintrafford.org

The culmination of this project will be an engaging installation across Waterside Plaza
